The Background
At Science Career Consulting, our goal is to help laboratory-based personnel, engineers, mathemeticians, and graduate students from related fields, discover, enjoy, advance and overcome challenges in your career. In other words, to take positive steps toward your future.
Led by a PhD scientist with over 20 years of experience pivoting as technology changes, your career is in capable hands. During the first session, we will provide guidance and the client and proprietor will check to see if we are a fit. You can sign up again if a new and unique work situation arises that you would like to explore.
You also may sign up for 4 x 1 hour consultations that will help you focus on a specific career objective like getting a raise, getting an advanced degree, such as a master's or PhD degree, getting along with coworkers and bosses, interacting with teams and other departments, pivoting into science or other workplace scenarios.
These topics are mentioned because they are all aspects that I grew into over my years in the field. I'm now considered a people person by the overwhelming majority of people I have worked with in my different roles. It wasn't always easy, because I used to be friendly but quiet, so I want to reach out and provide guidance and consultation to others in similar roles--because I have seen people struggling. Trust me, you will be in good hands. My approach is generally kind, yet appropriately firm when you need that extra little push that we all need to succeed.

An experienced professional will provide a caring and affirming environment in which to explore career options. We provide personalized advice and recommendations, but ultimately our clients have the final say in how they would like to proceed.
Dr. Spencer

At Science Career Consulting, we are proud to offer comprehensive career consulting services tailored to the exact needs of our clients. Our team is led by an experienced professional who started as a senior lab technician and worked her way up to senior leadership. With experience working in industry, academia, and for government contractors, she has deep knowledge of the industry and stands ready to help you strive to achieve your career ambitions. Her PhD is in Biology from the Catholic University of America with a focus on precision medicine in cancer. In addition, she holds a Master of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University and two undergrad degrees from the University of Virginia. Her experience has been honed over time.
During her career, she has mentored and coached National Cancer Institute interns, Baltimore City students, Research Associates, High Potential employees at international biotechnology companies and PhD Scientists.
